Applications are invited for the above post. The successful applicant will work on the Nottingham City Campus / Treatment Centre for their elective practice. They will join a dynamic and collegiate group of 26 other T&O consultant colleagues.

The successful applicant will provide the full scope of elective shoulder and elbow services including revision shoulder and elbow surgery within the elective tertiary hub. They will also provide acute shoulder and elbow services including an acute clinic and ability to support the trauma rolling list with an acute surgical list. The successful candidate will be required to join the 1:8 elective orthopaedic on call rota,

Main duties of the job

The job plan will include two outpatient clinics each week with an alternate week complex clinic, a weekly consent clinic and two all day operating lists. The department is a collegiate group of colleagues with well-established pathways for mentorship and supervision of new consultants. SPA allocation will be 1.5 core SPA’s.

Elective commitments will be provided at the Nottingham City Campus or QMC Campus (Treatment Centre) or peripheral clinics. Acute sessions will be provided at the QMC campus/Treatment Centre.

Out of hours cover and cover for inpatients when off site is provided through the EO on call rota which includes consultant and middle grade 24hour cover

Professional Registration

Essential criteria
  • Full GMC Registration
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT or CESR (CP) – proposed CCT/CESR (CP) date must be within 6 months of interview
  • CESR or European Community Rights

Professional Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Subspecialty fellowship training in shoulder and elbow including tertiary referral revision arthroplasty
  • Fellowship training or consultant experience in orthopaedic trauma
  • ATLS certification
Desirable criteria
  • Postgraduate qualification in musculoskeletal/orthopaedic science
  • ATLS instructor status

Clinical Skills/Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidenced technical skills as described in the job description
  • Able to communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, their families and other health professionals.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

Consent:

  • Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service – I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the Occupational Health Department confidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post.
